Country Decorating with Country-Style Rugs
Nothing adds as much warmth and comfort to a country home as a traditional braided rug. Perfect for any Country or Primitive style home, braided rugs bring rich color and design to hardwood, tile and many other hard surfaces found in modern homes.
Piper Classics also offers Eco-friendly Jute braided rugs, vibrant and beautiful cotton braided rugs, ultra durable indoor/outdoor rugs, and wool braided rugs, along with chair pads, stair tread, and tabletop accessories.
Since rugs are as important as pieces of art, one home decorating idea is to consider choosing the rug design you desire first, and then design the room around it as a focal point. It is easier to pick accessories such as accent pillows and curtains or decide on a neutral design for the sofa and chairs so they that don’t compete visually, then it is to choose a complimentary rug. Rugs can, and possibly should, be a priority in country decorating interior design, and not an afterthought.
For use in the living room or family rooms, bedrooms, kitchens and dining rooms, hallways, or on tabletops. Country-style rugs are the perfect and practical accessory, and include:
Wool Braided Rugs: Wool rugs are as durable as they are country-classic and versatile, making them the perfect complement to your country décor. By braiding together strands of single colored yarn, the result is a much different tone than created by fabric braids. The lines are simpler and subtler. Woolen braids reflect light differently, in a warmer hue, creating a welcoming feeling that enhances the area.
Hooked Rugs: Traced back to floor mats made in Europe during the early part of the 19th century, rug hooking is both an art and a craft. Orginally developed as a method of using leftover scraps of cloth, hooked rugs are created by pulling loops of yarn or fabric through a stiff backing-base, such as burlap or linen. The loops are pulled through the backing-base by using a crochet-type hook mounted in a handle for leverage. These rugs feature a high pile for great durability as well as a handcrafted appearance.
Primitive Penny Rugs: In an effort to make the most of the resources available to them, women in the 1800′s repurposed fabric pieces by using a coin as the template. Small bits and pieces of the wool and felt that were collected from clothing, hats, coats and blankets were sewed together to create beautiful and utilitarian art for their homes. While commonly referred to as penny “rugs”, they were more often found on tabletops and walls as decorative elements than on the floor, with actual coins stitched into the fabric to help secure it in place.
Ultra-Durable Rugs: This rug is warm, inviting, and practically indestructible. Ultra-Durable braids add texture and color to all your living spaces, both inside and outside. Pet stains, food stains, and liquid spills simply wipe away.
