4 Fall Farmhouse Decorating Tips for 2022
There is something nostalgic and heartwarming about this time of year!! For many of us, it calls to mind the “good ol’ days” when we’d be returning to high school or our college campus… Summer is having its last hurrah, with yards brown and crispy and potted plants and flowers absorbing every drop of water, instantly. We know that nature is just about to put on its most spectacular display of the year, and we can’t wait!
Here in Pennsylvania we’ve just had a refreshing dip in temperatures and a feeling of fall has entered the scene! With the flip of the calendar page, September steps in and we all anxiously await what autumn has in store for us this year!
Even though autumn only officially arrives on September 22, 2022, the angle of the sun has changed, days are getting shorter, (uh-oh!!) and the magic of the harvest season makes its presence known.
You know here at Piper Classics we can’t wait to start decorating for the season (even if it does feel like we’re getting ahead of ourselves a bit) and one trend that we’ve really fallen in love with is the shift toward muted harvest tones that compliment contemporary homes beautifully.
Never fear though, we still love all the traditional tones of fall, that enhance our interiors with layers of rich honey golds, scarlet reds, rusty oranges, and rich sepia browns.
To update your fall decor for 2022, let’s start with Neutrals.
-
Neutrals
Neutrals can update and upgrade your home with a clean, fresh touch that works wonders in homes sporting softer hues.
This fresh look is displayed beautifully with the delicate field cuttings and muted tones featured here in the Gold Leaves Wooden Sign. Easy-going earth tones blend into modern color palettes easily in this simple, rustic sign.
Further enhance this look throughout your home with the use of the feathery textures and bleached straw tones of the Ornamental Grass Spray. Adding subtle layers of tone and texture bring a richness and style without a bold palette.
Another way to keep color to a minimum this autumn is with an accent like the monochromatic Lace Gray Pumpkin Sign. It features completely neutral grays and whites in a weathered finish that offers style and elegance in a fresh tone-on-tone palette we adore.
Next in our line-up: rich, traditional tones.

Traditional Tones
These glorious deep, saturated tones are seen everywhere along the roads and hillsides during the fall months. Nothing like going “old school” when it comes to your harvest home. There’s a reason these colors keep popping up in fall decor.
One of our favorites in the Piper Classics warehouse is the Rust Penny Leaf Garland. It features numerous lightweight leaves in rich rust tones with an easy breezy flexibility. The everlasting garland brings traditional autumn color to our displays without ever fading. Twist the garland over and around a wall hanging, mirror, large pumpkin or banister for a fresh embellishing touch that will warm your heart and home all season.
Designed to contribute perfectly to your existing autumn color schemes is the Fall a Season to Gather Sign. Slightly weathered in appearance, this sweet wall hanging brings a graceful design with classic fall tones of brown, orange, and cream.
Third in line, but not in importance, as far as fall decorating goes, is to layer in gold tones.

Go for the Gold
Gold metals are having a huge moment in home decor right now and we are loving the warm burnished richness they add to every setting. We can think of no better time to incorporate the soft reflective qualities of these metal tones into our decorative designs… Can you?
The Trina Two Tier Brass Tray is an excellent example of what these warm golden tones can add to our surroundings. Providing ample opportunities for you to create those lush fall displays you want right now, this simply-styled, warm-toned metallic stand offers the perfect place to layer faux leaves and stems, cuttings from the yard or gathered during a woodland walk.
Staying in the golden glow, we offer the Golden Isle Candle Holders with their warm reflective sheen and look of luxury, sure to dress up everyday tabletops this season. Their size brings height and a sense of drama to your harvest displays. Arrange as a pair to bring a restful style and symmetry, or using the rule of threes (odd numbers) in different heights, create a dynamic, exciting look.

Let Nature Be Your Guide
Natural materials that are woven or braided together create gorgeous texture and interesting layering that enhances interiors with an unaffected, simple sophistication.
The Glass Bottle w/Reed Weave is a great example of an authentic natural design that enriches your home with layers of woven straw in soft tones. Display in a vignette with fall garlands, stems or other natural accents for a delightful look.
Bring another natural beauty to your home with the Crescent Woven Baskets, featuring an eye-catching dimensional quality! This duo features natural willow woven simply, with flat backs that rest perfectly against your wall. The graceful curved design provides ample space for candles and other fall floral accents from our collection, as well as pumpkins, gourds, or pinecones.
